Swim

Our 25 meter professionally maintained pool has a 2-3 foot shallow area, 8 foot diving well, 6 swimming lanes, and 6 diving blocks (for swim team use). It is open seasonally, from mid-May through mid-September. The pool, surrounded by forest and with a view of the lake, is quiet and serene, and shaded at times. It is very peaceful and rarely crowded!

Please be aware that the pool is unguarded and “swim at your own risk” *at all times*. The Five Oaks pool is attended by staff who maintain and operate the pool, however they are not allowed to lifeguard. Please do not swim alone, and all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Guest Policy

Five Oaks Club is strictly for members and their attended guests only. We do not have a day-use fee available for non-members. However, anyone is welcomed to become a member of Five Oaks – residency is not required.

Guests: Parties of 5 or more must pay guest fees ($10/person/day over the 4 person limit) for anyone not living in the same household. Members may bring up to 10 guests per day. All members and guests swim at their own risk, as this is an unguarded pool at all times. There is no exception for parties.

The pool will open on May 10, 2024!

Emergency Numbers

Pool Rules

The Five Oaks pool is *not lifeguarded* at all times. Members must not swim alone, and children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The pool is maintained by an attendant who does not monitor the pool, and is not permitted to lifeguard for safety and liability reasons. Please make every effort to keep our facility clean, safe and enjoyable for all members.  Contact Aquatic Management Group immediately at (919) 600-4117 (main office) or  (919) 393-0316 (emergency pager) to report emergencies or unsafe conditions. Members are responsible for adhering to these posted rules.

Food Policy: While small snacks are allowed at the pool, meals are not allowed inside the pool gates due to the mess they create. Members are invited to enjoy meals at the picnic tables outside the gate. Please clean up after yourself. Snack and soda machines are available in the hallway outside the fitness center.

Glass: No glass whatsoever is allowed inside the gate at any time. This includes longnecks, Mason jars, glass bottles, glass food containers, etc. Glass-related incidents are hazardous to members and expensive to pool equipment. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Grill: There is a grill next to the picnic tables outside the pool area available for use on a first-come, first-served basis. If you use the grill, you are fully responsible for its operation. Please make sure to turn the gas off when you are finished.

Floats and Toys: Most floats are prohibited for safety reasons due to the potential to obscure someone underneath. Pool noodles, kickboards, and floats made of see-through mesh are OK.

Pool Phone: The pool phone number is (919) 493-2604. Please do not leave messages at this number.

Pool Closings: The pool must remain closed for 30 minutes following every observance of thunder. When onsite, our pool attendant will make all determinations as to pool closings due to inclement weather, lightning potential and safety concerns. Please respect their decision to move swimmers out of the pool and to close the pool at will. If an attendant is not onsite, you must observe the 30 minute rule. If you have any questions about a closing, please contact the Five Oaks office.

Swim Team: The Five Oaks Swim Team (go Stingrays!) practices Monday through Friday from 6-7:30pm, May 13 – July 5. During these times, 5 of the 6 lap lanes are reserved for swim team members. The Stingrays host two home meets at the Five Oaks pool. On those dates, the pool is completely closed to members until the meet is over, around 12-1pm (but please come cheer on our team!). The home swim meet dates for 2024 are June 8, June 12, and June 29.

Five Oaks Stingrays

Swimming with the Five Oaks Swim Team is a great way to spend part of the summer at the pool making new friends, catching up with old friends, and learning to swim! All children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews of members are welcome on the team. We take swimmers as young as 4 if they are able to “swim” from one end of the pool to the other, and we take swimmers up to age 18 (swimmers’ age as of June 1). Our 2024 season begins May 13th, through the Durham Summer Swim League Championships in July. Our coaches, nearly all current or former swim team members, provide a fun and encouraging atmosphere in which the swimmers learn and develop stroke technique and good sportsmanship.
