Tucked back in 36 acres of forest, it’s SW Durham’s best kept secret.

Five Oaks is a private 36 acre recreational club located in southwest Durham, North Carolina – just minutes from UNC, Duke University and RTP. This registered 501(c)(7) nonprofit organization was created for residents of the Five Oaks neighborhoods – 4100, Hickory Downs, Farrington, and Lakeside, who are all automatic Five Oaks members. Families in nearby neighborhoods are invited to join Five Oaks as Social Members.

A 43 Year SW Durham Tradition

The Lunch Bunch

Five Oaks Club was created in 1975 for the five Five Oaks neighborhoods – 4100, Hickory Downs, Farrington, Lakeside, and Pope’s Crossing, with membership options extended to the greater community. Five Oaks was named after the five large oak trees that once towered over the community, which was then located in the countryside.

Since then, the city has come to us! I-40 was built, and Five Oaks Club is now conveniently located right off the highway, an easy location for residents of Chapel Hill, South Durham, and RTP. And with our acres of wooded property, it’s has remained a quiet, relaxing spot!

Five Oaks Club families have enjoyed decades of fun together – from pool parties, luncheons, high teas, and games to tennis, pickleball to zumba, loft socials to pet playdates and holiday parties. And you’re invited – come join us in the fun!
