Tucked back in 36 acres of quiet forest right off I-40, it’s Southwest Durham’s best kept secret.

Five Oaks Recreational Association, also known as Five Oaks Club or FORA, is a private 36 acre recreational club and 501(c)(7) nonprofit organization located in southwest Durham, North Carolina. It is located off 15-501 and I-40, just minutes from UNC, Duke University and Research Triangle Park. Perhaps surprising given its prime location, it remains serene, private and peaceful. Just have a sit by the 10 acre lake near the woods and you’ll see what we mean! Members enjoy a 25 meter pool, 6 dedicated pickleball courts, 24 hour fitness center, dog park, fishing lake, hiking trails, playground, full court basketball, facility rentals, and social programming.

Residents of the Five Oaks neighborhood (4100, Hickory Downs, Farrington and Lakeside) are automatic members of Five Oaks Club. Facilities and events are open to members and their attended guests only; however, anyone may become a member of Five Oaks Club, regardless of residence.

A 50 Year Southwest Durham Tradition

Five Oaks was named after the five large oak trees that once towered over the community, then located in the countryside. Since then, the city has come to us! With our 36 acres of wooded property, it still remains a quiet place to relax and unwind. Five Oaks Club families have enjoyed five decades of fun together – from luncheons to pickleball, to the Stingrays swim team and Loft Socials. And you’re invited – come join the fun! Come by for a visit today – we’ll show you around.
