Elma Thompson Dog Park

The Elma Thompson Dog Park is a 7500 square foot shaded dog park, tucked back in the forest along the drive to the clubhouse. There, you’ll find wood chips, a spigot to give your dog water, and shady spots to sit while your dog plays.

New in 2018: Any Five Oaks Club member is welcome to use the dog park at any time Members are no longer required to register to use the dog park.

History

The Elma Thompson Dog Park was established in 2004, in memory of our Five Oaks member, Elma Thompson. Elma wished for such a dog park for her dog, Minnie, to enjoy. Friends and neighbors put together a donation fund for the park, and the park was made a reality!

In the years after its establishment, friends at Five Oaks would get together for “puppy play dates” – bringing lunch and desserts, and enjoying their pets. Over the years, as pets passed, members planted memorial bushes in the park.

Cold (dog) drinks on tap!

One of those bushes is still there and thriving. The beautiful bush with red blooms at the entrance of the park is in loving memory of the dog, Chester.
